SUPPORT EDUCATION AND RESEARCH IN NURSING AND PUBLIC HEALTH!
The Library was founded with the creation of the School of Nursing in december 4, 1950 called the Library School of Nursing of Porto Alegre. Worked in a building rented as a residence for students at Florencio Ygartua street, 164. In 1946 he moved to a building on Protásio Alves avenue, 297 - 1st floor and has called the Library School of Nursing at UFRGS (EEnf-UFRGS).
On June 6, 1983 changed its name to "Library of the School of Nursing of the UFRGS. Teatcher Dirce Pessoa de Brum Aragon."
In 1985, the Library moved along with the School of Nursing at UFRGS to a building at the Campus Health at São Manoel street, 963 - Ground Floor Room 101.
The physical area of the Library which was increased to 147.63 m² for 311.44 m² in November 2000 and becoming a library more modern and comfortable, equipped with necessary media to give their users greater support for research.
With the creation of the course of Policy Analysis and Health Systems in 2008, the first course aimed at the area of public health in south to Brazil, the Library extends its field of activity specialized, serving areas of Public Health, Public Health Surveillance , Health Management and other more specific areas.
Today the Library is deemed a reference library in Brazil in the area of Nursing, in cooperation with the National Union Catalog of Periodicals (CCN), IBICT. It is a BIREME Cooperative Center, responsible for indexing documents in LILACS, BDENF, "Integralidade" and Public Health. He is a member of the Network of Libraries and Information Units of Cooperative Health Network (BiblioSUS), the Ministry of Health
